According to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for PolySorbate 80 there is no information available regarding carcinogenic, mutagenic, teratogenic, or developmental toxicity effects. **Please note this means they don’t know, the studies have either not been done, or have been inconclusive.
Also, according to the MSDS for Polysorbate 80, toxicity has only been addressed in reference to ingestion and inhalation, NOT injection, yet it is present in the DTaP, DTap-Heb, B-IPV, DTaP-Hip, HPV, Influenza, Rotavirus and Tdap vaccinations. However, the MSDS goes on to state:

May cause adverse reproductive effects based on animal test data. No human data found. May cause cancer based on animal test data. No human data found. May affect genetic material (mutagenic).”

“…between 1997 and 2008 were reviewed. We obtained all narrative summary reports from the FDA’s MedWatch program. Sixty seven unique cases of anaphylaxis following administration of polysorbate
80–containing docetaxel were identified, of which 23 (34%) represented fatalities.”
According to The Center for Science in the Public Interest Polysorbate 80 is safe to injest. However, other sites such as Drugs.com Polysorbate 80 has been linked to an increased risk of blood clots, heart failure, heart attacks, stroke and death. “It has also been shown to shorten overall survival and/or increase the risk of tumor growth or recurrence in patients with certain types of cancer”.
