EO QUICK GUIDE – Fevers, Congestion, & Sore Throats

FEVER

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus)

Palmarosa (Cymbopogon martini)

Peppermint (Mentha x piperita)*

Spearmint (Mentha spicata)*

Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanoides)

HOW TO:

For infants, blend 1 total drop of essential oil with 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage along the spine and feet. For children 1 – 5 years, blend 5 total drops of essential oils with 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage along the spine and feet. For older children and adults, blend 10 total drops of essential oils with 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage well on the chest, spine and feet. Complement with fresh juices and clean water.

CONGESTION

Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea)

Eucalyptus globulus or radiata*

Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)*

Rosemary ct camphor (Rosmarinus officinalis ct camphor)*

Peppermint (Mentha x piperita)*

HOW TO:

For infants, blend 1 total drop of essential oil with 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage well along the spine and feet. For children 1 – 5 years, blend 5 total drops of essential oils with 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage well along the spine and feet. For older children and adults, blend 10 total drops of essential oils with 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage well on the chest, spine and feet. Complement these applications with inhalation.

SORE THROAT

Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora ct 1,8 cineole)*

Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)*

Sandalwood (Santalum album)

Myrtle (Myrtus communis)*

Eucalyptus radiata or globulus*

HOW TO:

For children 1 – 5 years, blend 5 total drops of essential oils with 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage along the front and back neck. Re-apply as needed.For older children and adults, blend 1 ounce of carrier oil with 10 – 12 total drops of essential oils, and massage along the front and back of neck. Re-apply as needed.

SAFETY NOTES

*Avoid placing these essential oils on or around the mouths of children 0 – 5 years.

*Avoid direct eye contact.

*In the event of direct eye contact, place an amount of carrier oil on a cotton cloth and wipe away the affected area.

*Keep essential oils out of reach of children and pets.

What are carrier oils?

Carrier oils are fatty oils, which dilute essential oils; they nourish the skin while delivering essential oil components into the body. Some examples are: castor oil, grape seed oil, jojoba (a wax), sweet almond oil, olive oil.
